We collect what it takes to run your signs: your company's info, the leads your signs bring in, and the quotes you send. We don't sell personal information, and there are no ad trackers or analytics on the site. Information about a contractor's customers belongs to that contractor — we handle it for them.
1. Who we are
InsideJob Signs is run by Surfstung, LLC in Charleston, SC. This policy covers insidejobsigns.com, our sign and scan pages, and the emails we send. Questions go to info@surfstung.com.
We play two roles. For contractors' own accounts, we decide how information is used. For information about a contractor's customers and leads — neighbors who scan a sign, homeowners who get a quote — we handle it for that contractor, and the contractor decides how it's used.
2. If you're a contractor
- Your company: name, trade, phone, emails, license number, whether you're insured, service area, website and review links, services, what you write about your company, your brand color and your sign designs.
- Your sign-in: your email, name and role.
- Where to ship your signs.
- Billing: Stripe holds your card and handles payments. We never see or store your full card number.
- Your approvals: the design you approved, when, and the email that approved it. We keep these as the record of what you ordered.
- Photos you upload. We strip location data from them, and they show on your public pages.
- Phone alerts: if you turn them on, your browser gives us an address to deliver them to your device.
3. If you scanned a sign or a truck magnet
- Which sign was scanned, and when.
- A one-way scrambled code made from your connection (your IP address and browser), so one person scanning twice counts once. We don't keep your IP address or browser details.
- If you chat with Val: the chat runs on Val's service, which uses AI model providers to write replies. We keep your first message and anything you give so you can be contacted — your name, phone, email and what you need.
- That information goes to the contractor whose sign you scanned, who may call, text or email you about it. Their follow-up emails through us have a link to stop them.
- If you scanned one of InsideJob's own ads, we note the city the scan came from, worked out from your connection — not GPS.
4. If a contractor sent you a quote or invoice
- Your name, email and phone, and the job and its prices, as the contractor entered them.
- When you open the quote or invoice page, and how many times, so the contractor knows you saw it.
- If you accept: the name you typed and when.
- After a job is marked paid, the contractor may have us send you one email asking for a review.
- We don't take or see your payment. You pay the contractor directly.
5. If you try the demo, email us, or sell for us
- Try the demo and give your email, and we keep your email, first name and trade to follow up with you.
- Email us or use the contact form, and we keep your message and the details you gave so we can answer.
- Sales reps: your name, contact details, and the payout account Stripe sets up for you.
6. How we use it
- To run InsideJob: show your pages, count scans, send alerts, print and ship signs, and send the emails you ask us to.
- To bill you and keep business and tax records.
- To keep the site safe and stop abuse.
- To fix and improve InsideJob.
- To tell you about your account and changes to it.
We don't sell personal information, and we don't share it for targeted advertising.
9. How long we keep it
We keep information while an account is open and as long as we need it to run InsideJob, keep business and tax records, and settle disputes. Records of approved designs and payments are kept as business records.
Ask us to delete your account or your information, and we'll delete what the law doesn't require us to keep.
10. Your choices
- See, fix or delete your information: email info@surfstung.com. Contractors can change most of theirs in Settings.
- Stop emails: use the link in the email where there is one, or email us and we'll stop them.
- If a contractor has your information because you scanned their sign or got their quote, you can ask them — or ask us, and we'll help.
- Phone alerts can be turned off in your browser or phone settings at any time.
11. Keeping it safe
Connections to the site are encrypted, and we use reasonable safeguards to protect your information. No system is perfectly secure; if a breach affects your information, we'll tell you as the law requires.
12. Children
InsideJob is for businesses and isn't meant for children under 13. We don't knowingly collect their information, and if we learn we have, we delete it.
13. Changes to this policy
We'll post any change here with a new date. If a change matters, we'll email account owners before it takes effect.
